About Halbur

Halbur sits almost exactly midway between Carroll and Manning, so you can work in either one. Your children would go to the Carroll district. Let us know you're interested in Halbur and we'll call you when something is available.

Halbur was platted on the farm of Anton Halbur, for whom it's named, on the old Iowa Southwestern line. A local story held for years that the townsite had been put on a steep hill on purpose. The idea was that it would hold Halbur back and favor Carroll and Manning instead. O. H. Manning wrote a rebuttal in 1907. The Halbur farm was chosen because it sat exactly midway between the two towns, and no other tract on the line did.

Served by the Carroll Community School District.
